Role & Responsibilities:


  • Supervises a team of social workers who complete home studies to determine families' suitability to meet the needs of Milwaukee County children in outofhome care and social workers who facilitate placement matching for children referred to the CHWCS block.
  • Ensures continuous professional collaboration externally and internally to ensure the timely provision of comprehensive and wellcoordinated services and to ensure best use of limited placement resources. Ensures licensing standards outlined in DCF 56 are adhered to and all CHWCS internal practice standards are upheld.
  • This position ensures daytoday functions of the Licensing and Placement Unit are completed in a timely, thorough, and appropriate manner.
  • The Licensing and Placement Supervisor participates as a member of the OutofHome Care program management team for the purposes of planning, strategy implementation, continuous improvement, and development of the program and staff.
  • Oncall availability during and after normal business hours.

Education, Licensing & Certification:


  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field required.
  • Requires a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, minimum liability insurance coverage and the ability to be insured by the CHHS auto insurance carrier.
  • Certification in SAFE assessment tool within 6 months of hire.

Experience & Skills:


  • Three years of Child Welfare experience required.
  • Division of Milwaukee Child Protective Services experience or publicprivate partnership experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working with families of diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the laws and regulations pertaining to social services, children, youth, and families.
  • Skill in performance evaluation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and ability to supervise workers.
  • Ability to define problem areas, assemble facts and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to work effective and harmoniously with staff, clients, social service agencies, and others.
  • Strong computer skills required. eWiSACWIS experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions in accordance with all applicable regulations.
  • Multilingual preferred.
