- Audit current data practices and provide recommendations for process and efficiency improvements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standardized protocols and procedures for data collection, organization, and maintenance to ensure consistency and accuracy across all research projects.
- Ensure our data practices comply with current best practices and ethical requirements and commitments.
- Conduct regular audits and quality checks to assess data integrity, identify errors or inconsistencies, and implement corrective measures as needed.

Position Description
FIRE is seeking a talented and driven Research Data Manager to join our dynamic team. The Research Data Manager will play a pivotal role in elevating FIRE's research capabilities by standardizing data quality and organization across our research initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for defending free speech, a strong background in data management, and the ability to implement best practices to enhance our research outcomes.The duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in data management and research methodologies to continuously improve FIRE's research capabilities.
This position will also perform other support functions for the day-to-day operation of FIRE and will frequently collaborate with other staff members and departments on general duties and specialized projects.
This position involves a minimal amount of travel. Although projected to be rare, there may be some occasional work on weekends and evenings.
The expected start date for this position is as soon as possible.
Qualifications
A successful candidate will have a good work ethic, be a solutionist, and have the ability to work independently. Most importantly, the candidate must demonstrate a knowledge and passion for FIRE's mission and an ability to articulate that passion in a way that will make others enthusiastic about our cause. A candidate must also be able to demonstrate:
The ability to demonstrate the qualifications and knowledge of a data scientist is an advantage. Candidates must have a four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited college or significant experience in data management.
Salary and Compensation
Starting salary is negotiable and depends upon experience and education level. FIRE conducts periodic evaluations where employees may receive raises or bonuses for outstanding and excellent work. FIRE also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes employer-paid comprehensive health, dental, and life insurance; a Section 125 Flexible Spending Account option; matching retirement contributions; and a generous paid time-off plan.
