Description
Tax Planning & Structuring :
Conduct legal and tax structuring, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
Manage relationships with third-party advisors such as tax consultants and external counsel
Structure deals to maximize tax advantages, including sale-lease backs, divestitures, and purchase price allocations
Develop optimal tax structures for transactions based on portfolio company plans
International Expansion:
Establish appropriate legal entities and structures for international operations
Implement transfer pricing strategies to ensure compliance and tax efficiency
Identify and leverage tax efficiencies in international markets
Management Optimization:
Optimize tax efficiencies for portfolio companies and management entities
Identify and utilize tax incentives and credits, including R&D credits and capex initiatives
Provide basic tax planning and compliance for partnerships
Strategic Tax Leadership:
Provide strategic tax advice to senior management and stakeholders
Monitor changes in tax legislation globally and recommend appropriate actions
Integrate tax considerations into business decisions in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Compliance and Reporting:
Oversee the preparation and filing of all required tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Review federal, multi-state, and global tax returns provided by external firms
Manage tax audits and disputes, working to resolve issues with tax authorities favorably
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with fund controllers and CFO to advise on income tax issues and related planning
Share relevant tax data and information with investors and lenders
Liaise with external tax preparers, providing support and facilitating communication
Continuous Improvement:
Drive continuous process improvements in tax-related functions, leveraging technology and best practices
Lead compliance and advisory tax planning for various transactions related to portfolio companies
Other Responsibilities:
Perform other financial services reconciliation and duties as needed
Other duties as assigned per the CFO
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree a plus
Juris Doctorate strongly preferred
CPA certification a plus
10+ years of relevant experience, experience with private equity funds and tax preferred
Prior leadership within Big-4 or similar global public accounting firms desired
Global/international experience required
Commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization
Ability to multitask, manage time, meet deadlines, and work under pressure and changing deadlines
Ability to articulate complex tax matters in "business" language
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build lasting relationships, a good listener with outstanding interpersonal influencing skills and abilities
Ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently while successfully delivering results
Excellent time and project management skills; able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously within an innovative, fast-paced business environment
