    Assistant Coach - Riverside, United States - University of California System

    The Women's Softball Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting with all aspects of an NCAA Division I Women's Softball program including, but not limited to, on field duties of hitting, infield or outfield; the identification and recruitment of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes; supporting the academic limited to, the identification and recruitment of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes; supporting the academic progress of student-athletes; preparing and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition; fostering the academic, athletic, and personal growth of student-athletes; organizing team and staff travel arrangements; facilitating administrative duties, paperwork, video and scouting; managing the distribution and ordering of team equipment and supplies; coordinating and administering special softball events; managing and supervising facility maintenance and representing the sports program as needed in association with promoting and fundraising for the program.

    The full salary range for the Assistant Coach - Softball is $38,700 - $61,900 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $42,000 - $48,000.

    We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

    Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

    As a university employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.

    Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

    Analyzes performance and instructs participants in program strategies and techniques to prepare them for competition.
    Observes players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement.
    May assist in the recruitment of prospective athletes within the framework of the university, department, conference, NCAA rules.
    Under guidance of head coach, develops technical aspects of player coaching.
    Participates in the evaluation of student athletes' performance.
    Represents and promotes professional conduct, university good will and high standards at all events and games.
    Ensures adherence to all governing rules, university, department, conference, NCAA policies and procedures, including student-athlete benefits.
    May assist in coaching at competitive events.
    May assist in most practice and conditioning sessions.
    May participate in fundraising activities for the program and department.


    Technology & video:
    Manage and operate video technology effectively to enhance player and team development

    Administration:
    Handle paperwork and related administrative responsibilities in a thorough, complete, timely manner and adhere to university and department fiscal procedures and practices

    Facility:
    managing and supervising the softball facility maintenance and day to day operations.

    Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with athletic participants.
    Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making; be an effective problem solver and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
    Specialized knowledge of the team sport or activity, as well as basic technical expertise in coaching principles.

    Current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the affiliated athletic conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) or National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), as well as other associations and agencies to which the campus adheres, and, at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards.

    Demonstrated effective problem solving and communication skills, verbally and in writing.

    Recruit student-athletes who can compete successfully on a level consistent with program expectations, and who can be successful in an academic environment and graduate from the university.

    Be a positive team player.

    Set a positive example for the Department by supporting the mission and philosophy of the athletics program and the University.

    Specialized knowledge in managing but not limited to hitting, infield and outfield.
    Specialized knowledge and use of technology and video to enhance player development and team performance.
    Be a professional representative of the university and a role model for student-athletes, the Department, and community.

    Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making; be an effective problem solver and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
