The School's mission is brought to life on the idyllic 11-acre campus of the Cathedral of St.

John the Divine in Morningside Heights on Manhattan's Upper West Side through seven Core Values:

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Advancement Office to advance the mission and strategic goals of the School as an active and visible member of the community.
  • Serve as a reliable thought partner in the planning of creative programming, fundraising strategy, and community messaging.
  • In partnership with the Director of Institutional Advancement, support the development and execution of annual fundraising and stewardship efforts, including the fall appeal, spring Benefit, and annual Giving Report.
  • Maintain Advancement database using Raiser's Edge software. Aggregate incoming constituent information to ensure records are accurately and regularly updated, including adding new constituents and maintaining biographical information. Collaborate with interdepartmental colleagues to ensure consistency across all School databases.
  • Receive, process, and input gifts and pledges into Raiser's Edge database. Generate cash receipts for Advancement and Business Offices and administer gift receipt and acknowledgement processes in a timely manner.
  • Partner with the Director of Institutional Advancement to create programming and touchpoints of engagement across parent and nonparent constituencies
  • Build relationships with alumni volunteers and donors. Field alumni inquiries and communications. Plan and produce alumni enewsletter.
  • Assume responsibility for alumni features and Class Notes for Cathedral Magazine. Write additional articles as needed.
  • Participate in management of Advancementrelated special events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Related professional experience, preferably in educational/nonprofit fundraising.
  • A shared understanding of the mission of the School and a demonstrated commitment to our Core Values and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Able to understand, appreciate, and work with constituents across varied backgrounds and cultures, as well as all levels of employees, volunteers, Trustees, donors, and prospective donors.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills; an ability to clearly convey complex issues and maintain open communication channels with relevant stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail, professional attitude, and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality around sensitive and private data.
  • High level of creativity and initiative, proven ability to work independently, good timemanagement skills, and ability to work within deadlines.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn database platforms (Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge preferred) and other event/fundraising software.
The Advancement Associate is a full-time, 12-month, on-site position. The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $75,000. A resume is required to apply, and a cover letter is highly encouraged.
