Basic Function:


Under the general direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, this position will perform transactional and tactical Human Resources Generalist duties.

The primary emphasis is to support the HR department with a clear responsibility for the development and implementation of a JESCO training and development program.

Deliver value-added services to management and employees and contribute to various HR and Company initiatives in a mixed union/non-union environment.


Supervisory Responsibilities:


This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop, implement and administer a JESCO training and development program. This will include managerial training on JESCO processes, managerial development, effective management styles, interviewing techniques, etc.
  • Assist Recruiter with recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Assist benefit programs including open enrollment, new hire enrollment, qualifying events, termination / COBRA, and related activities.
  • Administer workers' compensation process including but not limited to obtaining reports and documents, timely submission of claims to insurance carrier, updating claim status, and coordinating leave of absence and return to work activities.
  • Assist with performance management process, as needed.
  • Assist with base and variable compensation programs, including but not limited to job descriptions, job analysis, job evaluation, grades, pay structures, benchmarking, salary surveys, and merit increase and bonus processes.
  • Handle employmentrelated inquiries from applicants, employees, management, and appropriate outside parties, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Assist in all employment related transactions including approvals, processing, and reporting of new hires, promotions, transfers, position changes, bonuses, special payments, leaves of absences, separations to ensure accuracy of personnel records and files, HRIS, and Payroll.
  • Liaise with Payroll Department on HR and payroll administration function ensuring compliance with Company policies, union contracts and federal, state, and local laws; and prepare report for relevant payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate processing of weekly, biweekly, and special payrolls and corresponding benefit deduction submissions.
  • Assist in development of policies, practices, procedures, workflows, checklists, job descriptions, employee handbooks, forms, notices, FAQs.
  • Assist with employee communications, including but not limited to announcements, news flyers, newsletters, and effectively manage content of HR intranet page.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance, including but not limited, to I9, DOT, OSHA, ADA, FMLA, EEO, AA, and COBRA and other requirements.
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations and ensure accurate documentation of activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policy, practices, procedures, and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; recommended changes due and best practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and modern technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.

Requirements:


  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience as an HR generalist or related position with working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines including compensation and benefits, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, leave administration, HRIS management and federal and state laws.
  • Experience with building companywide training and development program focusing on ensuring all appropriate staff are trained on JESCO processes, leadership development, etc.
  • Experience with creating defined position development path programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for Human Resources and an emphasis on engaging with all employees and all levels within the organizatio
