THE POSITION:


DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

This position serves as a Civil Engineer Hydraulic within the Eastern Section of the Division of Dam Safety.

The employee is involved in engineering work as required for implementing the Dam Safety Program as mandated by Act No.

325, 1978, Dam Safety and Encroachments Act.

The primary duties concern the regulation of dams and reservoirs in order to protect the health, safety, welfare and property of the people.

The employee performs technical duties on hydrologic and hydraulic studies, preliminary design of dams, levees and other hydraulic structures and economic analyses and cost estimates.

Work is assigned by the Eastern Section Chief and/or a senior civil engineer who provides assistance on difficult problems and reviews work upon completion.


If this position is filled as a Civil Engineer Trainee, the incumbent will participate in a one-year formal and on-the-job training program to learn the duties of a Civil Engineer Hydraulic.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday
  • Friday, with a 1hour lunch.

Telework: You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • Four years of civil engineering experience, and an EngineerinTraining certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists;
    or:
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or in a closely related field, which includes or was supplemented by major course work in civil engineering;
    or:
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes possession of an EngineerinTraining certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Conditions of Employment:


  • This position also requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.

Other Requirements:


  • PA residency requirement is currently
    waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
