Job Summary/Basic Function

Student would assist in offering Wellness Coaching to MU students as well as help with advertising and recruitment of students to participate in Wellness Coaching.

Wellness Coaching is a free service provided to students through the Center for Health Education and Promotion (CHEP).

Wellness Coaching is an individualized process for helping students achieve a higher level of well-being and performance in their academic pursuits as well as life in general when change is desired, yet difficult to achieve.

It empowers students to explore health topics of stress, sleep, social support, and substance use. Students can choose what they want to discuss and which health behaviors they want to set goals around. Students can schedule appointments by emailing

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree
Admitted to and in good academic standing in a degree-granting program at Millersville University
The Wellness Coach must be enrolled in classes each semester progressing toward a Master's degree
Maintain a professional attitude and manner and set a positive example for undergraduate students to model
Ability to be self-directed and work independently
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal
Excellent interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of student wellbeing topics
Previous work, volunteer, or engagement experiences around the topics of student wellbeing
Student advisement or peer education experience
Experience with data collection and evaluation
Pursuing a counseling or psychology master's degree

Job Duties

Responsibilities:

Assisting with implementation of state grant (PCCD Grant: Motivational Interviewing-Based Wellness Coaching Project)
Participate in all parts of project training including Motivational-Interviewing, Cultural Humility, Wellness Coaching, and Train the Trainer Training (for motivational interviewing)
Must be able to attend Wellness Coaching training at West Chester University on Tuesday, August 13 and Wednesday, August 14 from 8am-4pm each day (CHEP can provide transportation)
Must be able to attend CHEP training at MU the week of August 19-23 from 8am-4pm (lunches will be provided)
All trainings are paid
Train a peer educator in Level 1 Motivational Interviewing
Assist peer educator with all recruitment activities for wellness coaching program
Assist with the selection of attractive promotional and marketing logos, graphics, and items to distribute at events
Conduct AOD screenings for students
Along with the Site Champion (director of CHEP), deliver wellness coaching sessions to students
Assist with data collection and reports
Assist with all evaluation activities, including the sending out of emails to students who voluntarily sign up for follow-up participation after completion of the wellness coaching sessions
Participate in Implementation Team meetings and Site Meetings
Make presentations to campus departments regarding the program to raise awareness and ways to refer students
Complete all paperwork and tracking for Wellness Coaching sessions held

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time. Minimal physical effort. Must be able to lift and carry 10lbs. Must be able to pull cart of tabling supplies to various locations on campus.
