Duties:


  • Serve as Security Assistant with responsibility for managing all aspects of the security program, which includes: information, personnel and property within the organization.
  • Responsible for providing advice and assistance to the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade personnel concerning the Foreign Disclosure and Visits program.
  • Aid various staff sections in the areas of data gathering, scheduling exercise events, calendar coordination, researching information, visitor coordination and specific tasks related to the operations and security of facilities.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of and understand the differences between Classified Military Information (CMI), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Proprietary Information, Technical Information, and other types of restricted information.
  • Maintain understanding of exportcontrolled information, disclosure authorizations such as records for action, the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) exemption process, and delegation of disclosure authority letters (DDLs) as applicable.
  • Review military and civilian requests for personnel security actions: determines type of investigation required and appropriate channels for requesting investigation.
  • Maintain a system of accountability for all classified materials generated from/or received by personnel, including registers reflecting receipt, dispatch, distribution, and ultimate disposition of each copy of classified documents.
  • Maintain oversight of the unit's physical security program, to include Access Control System (ACS) computers and security container and door combinations.

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must satisfactorily complete the Foreign Disclosure Officer Course required for certification.

  • In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
  • To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as:

  • 1. Maintaining personnel security clearance files using automated systems and/or databases. AND
  • 2. Assisting in the administration of facility access control systems and/or programs such as locks, identification cards, alarms, closed circuit television. AND
  • 3. Assisting with security inspections and/or surveys.
  • This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS07) or outside the federal service (GG/GS08).
  • Creditable specialized experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower grade in the series.
  • You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • Technical Competence

NOTE:
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
