SUMMARY
Directs the activities of a manufacturing team. Responsible for timely completion of product assigned to their section. Responsible for housekeeping, safety and training of members of their section.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans and directs the activities of members on his/her team to meet production goals while performing duties of a Manufacturing Specialist III.
  • Ensures that team members receive proper training and that member performance meets the required manufacturing and quality standards.
  • Controls and maintains tooling and tool crib items assigned to the team.
  • Maintains a positive safety attitude and ensures that team members activities are in accordance to TECO-Westinghouse safety and hazardous material guidelines.
  • Resolves problems related to quality, productivity and methods as related to area of responsibility.
  • Performs quality work and exhibits pride in his/her efforts to manufacture to customer and TECO-Westinghouse standards.
  • Manages company assets efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensures that team members maintain a clean, uncluttered work area.
  • In supervisor's absence, performs duties such as time and attendance, scheduling, etc.
  • Initiates disciplinary procedures by providing supervisor with corrective action form.
  • Provides input to supervisor for performance evaluations of team members.
  • Exemplary attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Compliance with applicable Company policies, maintaining a drug free workplace is required.
  • Compliance with all Company policies is required, including adherence to Company ISO 9001 Standards, Company Affirmative Action Plan and Company Safety procedures.
  • Incorporate the Standards of Excellence as outlined by TECO-Westinghouse (Pride, Desire, Teamwork, Attention to Detail, Followthrough) into daily activities in order to create a Total Quality environment through personal commitment to excellence.
  • Other functions as required (nonessential functions).

SCOPE, PURPOSE AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS
Has multiple department contacts within the company. Meets with customers and management on and off site.


QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful at this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Attention to detail and quality workmanship are a must.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to five years related Manufacturing Specialist III or Associate Team Leader experience and/or training.

Otherwise, 5-10 years background in a similar manufacturing environment with 2 years leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

AC, Synchronous and DC motor and / or component assembly is a bonus.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Above average reading and math skills. Above average interpersonal and communications skills. Must be able to read and interpret assembly drawings, specifications. Ability to use common measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, etc.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
