- Under the direction of Sanitation Supervisor, perform in a lead role, to include leading a team of assigned employees to perform duties typical of sanitation.
- Utilize chemicals and cleaning agents to clean and sanitize processing area walls, floor, and equipment.
- Supervise the day-to-day implementation of sanitation protocols and safety measures to achieve AFNA regulatory agency regulations (SSOP, GMP, OSHA, SQF, etc.).
- Utilize refuse and sanitation tools in a proper and safe manner.
- Removal of debris from processing area.
- Verify the adequacy of cleaning and sanitation performed on areas and equipment and complete and sign off on appropriate forms.
- Document actions taken in response to unsatisfactory observations on Equipment, Utensils, and Process Area conditions.
- Complete testing when applicable.
- Works with team members to effectively complete all cleaning job tasks in a timely manner.
- Perform quality, service, and safety inspections; monitor employees for proper use of personal protective equipment and supplies.
- Ensure cleanliness of all surfaces to meet plant standards.
- Cleaning the facility and equipment in proper sequence and in a timely manner enabling pre-op inspections and set up to begin on time.
- Must adhere to all corporate GMP's, established SOP's, and all Food Safety policies.
- Preparing cleaning solutions according to specifications.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Cleans rooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
- Regularly check the trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all areas of the site.
- Directly supervise sanitation staff and provide leadership in chemical mixing, washing, drying, and USDA compliance.
- Responsible for following all following all food safety policies and safety procedures.
- Effectively lead shift to ensure plant cleanliness, productivity, quality, and safety standards are met.
- Plan and coordinate daily sanitation activities to ensure cleaning schedules are met.
- Take full ownership of assigned area of responsibility
- Maintain active working knowledge of all sanitation and cleaning procedures.
- Ensure proper disassembling and reassembling of machines for cleaning purposes.
- Monitors the daily activities of assigned staff, providing instructions and performance feedback to ensure that productivity and quality objectives are met or exceeded.
- Implements approaches to improve quality and productivity by developing new ideas, improving processes, and planning for upcoming equipment or process changes
- Cover Sanitation manager responsibilities during his/her absence.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Previous sanitation and/or janitorial experience or familiarity with cleaning manufacturing equipment required.
- Knowledge of operation and deployment of sanitation equipment, chemicals, tools, and materials.
- Reliability and accountability in maintaining process controls and completing projects punctually.
- Organized with effective time management skills.
- Proficient communication and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to Detail is a must.
- Must be able to work without supervision. Must be able to work under pressure.
- Actively be up to date and coach team members on safety processes on safe handling of USDA and DOH regulations.
