    Job Duties
  • General office assistant for the College of Graduate Studies
  • Serve as receptionist for office including answering/directing phone calls, monitoring voice mailboxes, greeting/assisting visitors
  • Use LU website and student worker info book to answer student questions or route to appropriate department
  • Complete training required to access LU student information systems in order to assist with various processing tasks
  • Prepare forms for supervisor approval, distribution and logging
  • Maintain electronic filing system including copying/scanning, organizing information, proper disposal of security sensitive information
  • Run campus errands as needed including routine delivery and pick up of mail
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Full time undergraduate student at Lamar University
  • Good academic standing
  • Must maintain at least 2.5 GPA
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs
  • Work Study Eligible

Physical Requirements

  • Physical Stamina: The ability to stand, walk, and carry mail or packages for extended periods during mail runs.
  • Dexterity and

Typing Skills:
Proficiency in typing and using computer equipment efficiently and accurately.

  • Good Posture: Ability to maintain proper posture while sitting for long periods at a desk to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal issues.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Capability to lift and carry packages or boxes of various sizes and weights during mail runs, adhering to safety guidelines for lifting.
  • Communication Skills: Clear communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and recipients of mail or packages professionally and courteously
