The State of New Hampshire, Bureau of Family Assistance has a Full-Time opening for a Family Services Specialist Trainee-II.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
Under updated regulations, relevant experience is now considered alongside formal education degrees specified in the posting. Details can be found in Per 405.1.

WORK DESCRIPTION:
Offer professional, comprehensive needs assessments, information, and referral services. Determine, certify, and recommend eligibility for assistance programs. Act as a bridge between clients and partner organizations, supporting recipients on the path to self-sufficiency.
This role is part of the Family Assistance Bureau and may be placed in a District Office, client service center, or other relevant location as needed.
As progression is made from Trainee to Level II, the complexity of casework increases while the core responsibilities remain the same.MAIN DUTIES:
Trainee
Trainee Responsibilities:
I-II-In addition to Trainee tasks, review and verify 5-year asset history for improper transfers and apply penalty periods where necessary.
Trainee-II- Engage professionally and efficiently with a diverse client base, in person, over the phone, or online. Evaluate complete needs, handle eligibility services, provide information on programs and services, clarify criteria, and make referrals.
II-In addition to the above duties, at Level II, connect with financial institutions and follow up with clients for additional financial details.
Trainee-I Assess complete service needs and refer clients to social service, employment, education, health, or vocational agencies, both within and outside DHHS, to ensure requirements are met.
In addition to the above, assist clients in emergencies and refer for aid in situations like homelessness, utility loss, domestic abuse, and childcare needs, following up as required.
I- Support Family Services Specialist Trainees with tasks, resource location, policy interpretation, and client queries.
Trainee-I- Assist clients in emergencies and refer for help in areas such as homelessness, utility loss, domestic abuse, and childcare, following up as needed.
Assign and supervise work for Trainee and I staff, including case reviews for accuracy and completeness.
Trainee-II- Apply complex federal and state policies to ensure accurate and timely eligibility assessments.Trainee-II- Document cases and update eligibility systems for accuracy and timeliness of information.
Detect potential benefit fraud or overpayments and refer for investigation by the Office of Special Investigations.
Trainee-II- Stay updated on specialized interviewing and communication techniques; economic, social, and health factors affecting client challenges and self-sufficiency; local resources and services; New HEIGHTS and eligibility systems; and all assistance programs and policies to deliver effective service and meet agency standards.
