    Provides the strategic direction, leadership, and oversight of a team of risk advisors/assessors in the oversight of all third-party risk assessments within the Third Party Risk Management program.


    • This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days a week in the office
    • Ensures the Risk Advisors and Assessors are providing effective challenge to the Operating Groups and supporting the RSAs regarding their management of operational risk as well as bringing insights and suggestions to the community.
    • Identifies and assists with the improvements in the execution of TPRM and work with Enterprise Third-Party Risk Management (ETPRM) and the RSAs to implement the most effective and efficient oversight program for the Enterprise possible, leveraging industry best practices to the extent applicable.
    • Drives consistency and quality in the execution of TPRM across the Enterprise,
    • Develops relationships with Operating Group and RSA leaders to ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities, to identify potential improvements in the program and, when necessary, to provide effective challenge.
    • Establishes and enhances issue escalation processes and to ensure compliance with the processes.
    • Visibly promotes strong third-party risk management and subsequent operational risk management culture and awareness.
    • Ensures understanding by the business, providing guidance where necessary, on the Bank's Operational Risk Management Framework and linkages to the TPRM Operating Directive to ensure the business meets their accountabilities as the first line of defense.
    • Supports the identification and recommendation of third party risk management improvement opportunities.
    • Acts as a leader in identifying opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of third-party risk oversight and its direct impact to Operational Risk Management in the organization.
    • Works with RSAs and Operating Groups to build and maintain relationships across third-party risk landscape and collaborate with other industry contacts (internal and external for the purpose of enhancing business effectiveness

    • Supports management and implementation of documentation / process controls / knowledge assets required for the program operations.
    • Reviews the third party management program/processes for effectiveness, considers industry trends and recommends enhancements.
    • Supports the development and promotion of a business/group third party management program solution.
    • Executes work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service for routine & non-routine transactions related to the program execution.
    • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
    • Ensures alignment between stakeholders.
    • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide program insights and recommendations.
    • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a senior specialist resource across BMO.
    • Influences how teams/groups work together.
    • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to multiple, interdependent, complex problems.
    • Communicates abstract concepts in simple terms.

    Qualifications:

    • Typically, 9+ years of relevant experience and/or certification in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Knowledge and experience in managing third party programs - Expert.
    • Seasoned expert with extensive industry knowledge.
    • Technical leader viewed as a thought leader for innovation.
    • Verbal & written communication skills - Expert.
    • Analytical and problem solving skills - Expert.
    • Influence skills - Expert.
    • Collaboration & team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration - Expert.

    Compensation and Benefits:
    $128, $238,000.00

    Pay Type:
    Salaried
    The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type.

    Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure.

    Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.

    For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

    BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
