The Institute for Tropical Medicine and International Health covers patient care, research, and teaching. The institute offers the postgraduate, English-language Master's program in International Health.

The program is part of the tropEd network (European Network for Education in International Health), consisting of over 25 institutions mainly in Europe, as well as in Asia, Africa, and South America.

The program consists of a basic study followed by a specialization study, which can be completed entirely or partially at the institute or at other institutions in the network, and is completed with a scientific thesis.

Currently, about 170 students from approximately 30 countries are enrolled in the program. Teaching in the program is provided by approximately 100 lecturers from Germany and abroad. The program secretariat is staffed with 2.5 full-time positions. Student assistants support the work.
