The BH Link is searching for an enthusiastic professional who is looking to make a positive impact in the Rhode Island community The BH Link is a 24/7 triage facility providing assessment and referral services for adults experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises.

The purpose of the Health Information Specialist is to streamline program-level EHR processes at the BH Link.

This unique role will be central to the quality assurance of health record processes, streamlining both billing and care coordination systems.

This role is highly collaborative, involving a mix of administrative and clinical support related to client intake and discharge from program services.


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Assist clients in filling out paperwork, as needed.
  • Maintain documentation and logs, as appropriate.
  • Monitor relevant client records to identify errors and gaps in clinical data entry.
  • Coordinate with program supervisors and agency administrators to continually monitor and resolve programlevel EHR discrepancies.
  • Assist in tracking and analyzing ongoing progress in preventing errors in health record entry.
  • Help identify PQI needs and solutions in EHR entry, reporting, and clinical intake/discharge processes.
  • Collaborate with PQI administrators in an ongoing evaluation of clinical and administrative practices related to health records and health record entry.
  • Facilitate and engage in routine reporting processes.
  • Assist in the reporting and analysis of claims and thirdparty revenue data.
  • Assist in training clinical personnel in EHR related processes, including opening and closing client records.
  • Help to ensure the comfort and safety of clients throughout their visit to BH Link.
  • Provide additional clinical and administrative support as needed.

Experience and Education:


  • Degree in human services, health administration (or similar field of study) or;
  • 35 years of equivalent administrative healthcare experience.
  • Preferred 13 years' experience in human services (or other relevant experience).
  • Experience in EHR administration, intake, and/or billing, highly preferred.
