    Description


    The Clinical Director serves as the supervisor of all clinical aspects of the in-patient-based substance abuse treatment facility by directing, supervising and monitoring the work of clinical staff in the provision of substance abuse treatment services and aftercare planning for assigned clients.

    Additionally, the Clinical Director provides individual therapy, treatment planning, case management, client advocacy, counseling and crisis intervention and provides, coordinates and arranges for family therapy services for clients.

    Collaborates with the Executive Director and Counselor(s) to determine continuum of care for clients

    Directs counseling staff in the day-to-day provision of substance abuse and mental health services to the in-patient treatment community

    Provides individual, family and group counseling and participates in case conferences

    Reviews program materials for clinical appropriateness and approves the acquisition of all new programming materials

    Ensures that counseling staff have been adequately trained in the use of any program being delivered to clients

    Directly, and through subordinate staff, supervises the assessment of all newly arrived clients; supervises clinical staff in scheduling all clients into treatment activities; assigns caseloads; and monitors and evaluates clinicians in the performance of their duties

    Reviews and approves all clinical documentation (treatment progress, treatment plans, and client coordination of care plan) and conducts regular quality assurance and quality improvement reviews to ensure that all appropriate record-keeping is performed on a timely basis

    Assesses and evaluates staff; develops methods to use and enhance strengths and to isolate and minimize weaknesses

    Acts as the program's liaison with families and offers recommendations for program development and improvement

    Provides ongoing client assessment to identify changing needs pertaining to the treatment strategy

    Conducts regular chart reviews, ensuring that all appropriate record-keeping is performed on a timely basis and that all governing agency regulations are met

    Attends meetings called by the Executive Director and participates in discussions concerning the revision, improvement and expansion of existing programs and offers recommendations

    Participates in quality assurance, quality improvement and utilization review activities and makes recommendations to the Executive Director for plans of correction

    Maintains established performance and conduct standards in accordance with organizational expectations

    Performs all other duties as assigned


    SPECIFIC EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:
    Bachelor's Degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related human services field required

    Valid Indiana license; LMHC/LCSW/LMFT/LPC; required

    Minimum 1 year of post-licensure experience providing direct therapy to substance abuse patients required

    Three to five years of experience in the delivery of substance abuse treatment counseling preferred

    Three years of full-time experience supervising counseling staff in a substance abuse program preferred

    Valid driver's license


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Frequently required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls

    Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

    Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

    Vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

    Occasional moderate to high stress due to interactions with clients in crisis

    Temperature in the workplace is typically moderate
