Job Overview

Manufactures a variety of signs to meet the customer's requirements, using a variety of fonts, graphics, computer, and freehand technique.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

Paints and redecorates walls, woodwork, and fixtures of an establishment.

Assesses surface peculiarities and specific preparation for various types of paint required for different applications including, metal, wood, concrete, sheetrock, and epoxy-based coatings.

Prepares surface for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices and applying paint with spray gun or brush.

May mix colors, oils, and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency.
Applies a variety of graphic art techniques to produce signs, posters, and displays for interior and exterior use.
Devices stencils, templates, etc. as necessary to reproduce designs or shapes.
Arranges layout of signs on the basis of brief information on customer request.
Removes old coating through various means such as sanding, steel wool, removal solvents, or torch.
Cleans and prepares surfaces to receive paint or reflective sheeting.
Letter in-place signs, doors, and buildings of different types of construction.
Lays out signs from rough sketches.
Performs freehand layout of signs and enlargement of signs to the required proportions.
Uses computerized sign cutting machine.
Uses large metal cutting shears to produce properly sized metal signs.
Uses various types of stencil-cutting equipment.
Occasionally paints interior and exterior of buildings.
Responsible for timely reporting of accidents, injuries, and hazardous situations.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) years of experience completing similar work.
Familiarity with basic mathematical functions is required.
Knowledge of required hand and power tools.
Familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
Ability to perform assigned work tasks with minimal supervision.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
Valid state Driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
U.S. Citizenship.
Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
Ability to obtain Government credentials that may be required.
