The Role

The Director, Engineering for the Custom Network organization will lead the solution design, alignment, and engineering components of the custom build solutions for the National team. As a key member of the Lumen custom network national leadership team, this role will drive excellence in solution alignment, ensuring product operational readiness and providing critical engineering support.

The Main Responsibilities

Solution Alignment

• Collaborate with cross-functional and regional teams to align engineering efforts with overall business goals.
• Define and communicate the technical vision for custom network solutions.
• Ensure that engineering projects contribute to the success of the organization's strategic objectives.

Product Operational Readiness

• Oversee the operational aspects of custom network product development, deployment, and maintenance for the National team.
• Work closely with product managers, quality assurance, and operations teams to ensure seamless product launches.
• Develop and implement processes for monitoring and maintaining product health post-launch.

Engineering Support

• Provide leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Address technical challenges, resolve bottlenecks, and facilitate efficient execution of engineering projects.

Solution Design

• Lead the design and architecture of custom network solutions.
• Evaluate technical feasibility, scalability, and performance of proposed solutions.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to create robust and scalable systems.

What We Look For in a Candidate

• 10+ years of relevant experience with 3+ years of leadership experience
• 3+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, preferably in custom network domains
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies, agile practices, and DevOps principles
• Results orientation with a demonstrated track record of success
• Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills
• Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to articulate information clearly
• Ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment, with agility, resilience, and a customer-centric mindset

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

$128,310 - $171,080 in these states: AR ID KY LA ME MS NE SC SD

$135,060 - $180,080 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY

$141,820 - $189,090 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI

$148,570 - $198,090 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
