Specifically, Port Wilmington is a leading terminal on the East Coast strategically located in Wilmington, Delaware providing turnkey vertically integrated logistics services for containers, dry bulk, and breakbulk products.
This is a full-time on-site role for a Marine Superintendent located in Wilmington, DE. The Marine Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing marine operations, ship management, supervisory skills, vetting, and vessel operations.
The Marine Superintendent will be responsible for managing the day-to-day tasks associated with marine operations and ensuring efficient and safe operations.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvide guidance and direction to Union Labor Workforce (ILA).
Assist in planning daily work schedule and directs employees to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely delivery, proper inventory control, and prompt and effective responses to customer requests.
Maintains a firm hand on all aspects of operations and maintains an effective balance of communication between management, supervision, and all production and support personnel.
Identifies training requirements and ensures that all employees possess technical job proficiency and an understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and performance goals.
Schedules and shifts employees to ensure efficient work teams. Initiates cross-training to ensure the achievement of productivity goals.Ensures proper documentation and records in employee performance, safety, etc.
Ensures compliance with safety, sanitation, and security procedures.
Initiates work orders and reports to maintenance equipment and, or facility needs.
Coordinates with Port Captain and, or Cargo Officer on stowage, loading, and discharging operations.
Continuously visually inspects loading and unloading gear and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and governmental
As a member of the management staff assumes various additional projects or tasks as necessary.
Qualifications
Marine Operations and Vessel Operations skills
Strong supervisory skills
Knowledge of maritime regulations and safety procedures
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Experience in the logistics or maritime industry is a plus
Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus
Experience handling and supervising employees on multiple types of cargo, especially breakbulk
Excellent safety record
Able to train new employees; motivate and build morale within the group
Must possess a valid driver's license and a 3-year driving history that is acceptable to our auto insurance carrier.
