Position Overview:


As the Director of Maintenance at APS, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational readiness, safety, and airworthiness of our fleet of 10 aerobatic aircraft, comprising two types: the SIAI Marchetti S211 jet trainer (2 aircraft) and the Extra 300L unlimited aerobatic aircraft (8 aircraft), along with an advanced flight simulator.

You will oversee all maintenance activities from a single cooled office/hangar location, mainly during sought-after daytime hours with weekends and holidays off.

You will contribute directly to our mission of saving lives through effective aircraft maintenance in compliance with our existing Safety Management System (IS-BAO Stage 2) and Part 141 Flight School standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Aircraft Maintenance Management: Coordinate,supervise, and perform all aspects of aircraft maintenance, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (FAA, OSHA, EPA etc.) and manufacturer specifications for both S211 and Extra 300L aircraft.

Inventory Management:
Organize the procurement process for aircraft parts and components, adhering to company purchasing processes.

Create inventory reports, analyze inventory levels, and optimize stock to ensure timely availability of required parts while minimizing costs and downtime.


  • Financial Management: Track maintenance time and expenses on both work order and aircraft levels. Generate and analyze maintenancerelated financial reports to monitor expenditures, identify costsaving opportunities, and optimize budget allocation.
  • Vendor and

Contractor Relations:
Cultivate positive relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers through effective communication and collaboration.

Ensure timely delivery of services and materials, negotiate favorable terms, and uphold APS's reputation for reliability and professionalism in all interactions.


  • Process Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve aircraft performance and appearance, enhance operational efficiency, streamline maintenance processes, and reduce costs. Develop innovative solutions and implement best practices to optimize resource utilization and achieve operational excellence in aircraft maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate required.
  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) license required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance management, preferably in a GA aircraft maintenance or repair station environment.
  • Experience in working on piston engine aircraft (Lycoming Engines) and turbofan engines (P&W JT15D).
  • Strong understanding of aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problemsolving skills.
  • Effective leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and mentor maintenance staff.
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Google Workspace/Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Safety conscious individual with a "cando" attitude and a high standard of professionalism, reliability and accountability is a must.
  • Must be physically fit and willing to work outside during all seasons.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Maintenance Management, Aeronautical Engineering, or related field desired.
  • DOT drug and alcohol testing required.
