POSITION CONCEPT:


  • This position is responsible for operating heavy and light equipment specifically in support of oil spill cleanup. Adapts procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs. Ensures that all completed work complies with Safe Work Practice.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provides leadership for site control and decontamination procedures for oil spills
  • Operates company vehicles with appropriate Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Operates forklift, backhoe, and other equipment
  • Maintains adequate inventory of materials and supplies to support all requirements.
  • Use hand tools (air/electric tools, grinders, etc)
  • Effectively communicates with customers
  • Interfaces with Facility Managers, vendors, and outside contractors
    REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Must have nine months related experience which includes formal training in area of environmental oil spill cleanup specialization. Must have completed 24hour Hazardous Waste Site Operations and Emergency Response Course. Must have CDL Class A License, safe driving record. Physically capable to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs. Must possess basic typing and computer skills.
    PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experienced with Microsoft Windows
  • Vocational and/or Technical Certification
  • Working knowledge of TECO Energy organization and locations.
    RELATIONSHIPS
  • The Facility Service Special Helper interacts with personnel of all levels within Tampa Electric, TECO Energy and affiliates. This position has frequent interaction with employees, vendors, and service contractors. Works under the general supervision. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals.
    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • High School diploma or equivalency
