Overview
Do you love working with children? Do you want to be able to make a difference in people's lives? Apply today to be a behavior technician here at Options for Southern Oregon. A behavior technician is an entry level job that provides paid on the job training and lots of ongoing training and support built into the job. You will be working with children ages 2-18 with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) you will be responsible for working one-on-one with a child following a specific behavior plan and goals.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
Works with the child and family to observe client functions and collect information to be used by the BCBA in the functional assessment process. Implements behavior intervention plans as defined by the behavioral analyst. Develops and facilitates client groups. Teaches and helps to promote language, behavioral, social, and daily living skills.
Provides support to parents, teachers, and caregivers to make the most of their efforts in making our programs universal across all areas of the child's environment (generalization). Reports symptoms and manages immediate crisis including danger to self or others, and implements crisis intervention plan if necessary. Follows agency established clinical protocols for the ABA program. Works collaboratively with treatment team to meet client goals and maintains timely communication with clients, Options staff, and supervising BCBAs.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Desire to work with children who have emotional and/or mental disabilities, autism, or developmental disabilities. On the job, paid training Must complete a 40-hour class to become a registered behavior technician within 4 weeks of hire. (see for more information on becoming a RBT). ABA experience a plus.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays, around the needs of the clients. Comfortable working with children who display behavior problems.
Candidates must be able to use e-mail, compose documents, save and locate documents electronically, and learn to use our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Proficiency in Word and other MS Office applications preferred.
Must pass state-required background and DMV checks; possess a valid OR driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Candidate must be able to work independently and flexibly, under general supervision.
Possess mature attitude and sensitivity to the needs of clients, understanding of HIPAA laws regarding confidentiality of privileged information, and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
