As a Commercial Lines Transportation Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in assessing risk, evaluating policies, and ensuring exceptional service delivery to clients.

    Job Summary: My client is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Lines Transportation Underwriter to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the transportation industry, coupled with strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail. As an Underwriter, responsibilities include evaluating and underwriting transportation insurance policies, assessing risk factors, and determining appropriate coverage options. This role requires a proactive approach to decision-making, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive business objectives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Evaluate and underwrite transportation insurance policies, including but not limited to commercial auto, trucking, and cargo coverage.
    2. Assess risk factors associated with transportation operations, including vehicle types, driver qualifications, safety records, and loss histories.
    3. Analyze applications, loss runs, and other relevant documents to determine policy eligibility and pricing.
    4. Collaborate with underwriting assistants, brokers, and other internal teams to ensure accurate policy issuance and timely service delivery.
    5. Maintain knowledge of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and market conditions to inform underwriting decisions and strategy.
    6. Develop and maintain relationships with insurance agents, brokers, and clients to foster business growth and retention.

    Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field.
    2. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in commercial lines underwriting, with a focus on transportation insurance preferred.
    3. Strong knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting guidelines, and risk assessment techniques.
    4. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and make informed decisions.
    5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and underwriting software systems.
    6. Industry certifications such as CPCU, CIC, or ARM are desirable but not required.
