    As a Pipeline Technician for Riverside Energy Group, you will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of natural gas transmission and distribution systems. Your responsibilities will revolve around the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of pipeline infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.

    Compensation: $19.00 to $25.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience

    Job Type: Full-Time (40 or more hours per week); Benefits Eligible; Hourly; Non-Exempt

    1. Pipeline Inspection: Regularly inspect pipeline facilities, including valves, meters, regulators, and other components, to identify potential leaks, damages, or operational issues. Must be willing and able to walk pipelines daily, year round, in beautiful Northern Michigan in all weather conditions.
    2. Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, lubricating, and adjusting equipment. Conduct repairs or replacements of faulty components to ensure uninterrupted gas flow and prevent accidents. No "that's not my job" attitudes - Operators and Technicians pitch in when and where needed, even if it's not directly pipeline related.
    3. Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as gas leaks or pipeline ruptures, to mitigate risks to public safety and the environment. Execute emergency shutdown procedures as necessary.
    4. Pressure Testing: Conduct pressure tests on pipelines and associated equipment to verify integrity and safety standards, adhering to regulatory requirements.
    5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs performed. Prepare detailed reports on findings, including recommendations for improvements or corrective actions.
    6. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and industry standards governing the operation of natural gas pipelines. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to minimize occupational hazards.
    7. Communication: Collaborate with other team members, supervisors, and external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies or contractors to coordinate activities and address operational challenges effectively.
    8. Equipment Operation: Operate specialized tools and equipment, such as leak detection devices, pressure gauges, and pipeline pigging equipment, safely and proficiently.
    9. Environmental Protection: Implement measures to prevent and mitigate environmental impacts associated with pipeline operations, such as erosion control, spill containment, and wildlife protection.
    10. Continuous Improvement & Education: Stay updated on advancements in pipeline technology, safety practices, and regulatory requirements. Participate in training programs and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge. Pipeline operators of hazardous liquids and gas must possess and adhere to state and federal codes, written guidelines, and requirements ensuring safe and responsible operation of pipelines.
    Requirements:
    • At least 2 years prior experience working on pipelines (maintenance and operation); preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
    • Willing and able to train and test to get Operator Qualification (OQ) certifications - ongoing / continuing education.
    • High school diploma or equivalent; must have basic math skills and is able to read, write, understand, and speak English
    • Once trained, you'll be relied upon to complete your duties with minimal direction. This includes using technology - iPhone, iPad, laptop with Microsoft Office products, as well as proprietary programs and tools.
    • Additional technical or vocational training in pipeline operations, mechanics, or related fields is advantageous.
    • Knowledge of gas pipeline systems, equipment, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., PHMSA regulations) is desirable.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with ability to diagnose and resolve issues effectively.
    • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and environments, including remote and/or rugged terrain.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration and reporting.
    • Commitment to safety, with a keen awareness of potential hazards and a proactive approach to risk management.
    • Valid chauffeur driver's license, and willingness to travel daily across Northern MI for on-site inspections or emergency response; CDL and/or DOT medically certified is advantageous but not required.

    Work schedule: Mon-Fri (8 hour days); 40+ hours per week; 30-60 minute unpaid meal time

    Physical: Type, answer texts/calls, use an iPad and iPhone every day, push, pull, squat, twist, kneel, sit/stand/walk, up/down stairs or ladder, overhead work, lift/carry up to 50 lbs (*assistance is provided for heavier items), and reach above, at, and below shoulder. Some days these activities will be infrequent, and other days will happen multiple times per hour. Other physical requirements may be added as needed, to allow Employees to perform the job safely and in compliance with company, local, state and federal regulations and requirements as applicable.

    Travel requirements: Person will travel daily to other MI company locations using assigned company truck.

    Pre-employment screenings: Person must successfully complete a background check and driving record check. Riverside will cover the cost of this. Person must successfully gain a Chauffeur's license - requires written test and small license fee.
