Summary:

Under general direction, incumbent(s) assists with recruiting parental and community involvement on the school campus and assists with the implementation of the volunteer program meant to help with student tutoring, mentoring, and assisting teachers.


Essential Functions:


  • Communicates with parents and the community to attract volunteers.
  • Assists with selected teachers on the implementation of a parenting class that urges parents to become more involved with their children at home.
  • Collaborates with teachers and volunteers. Places volunteers into appropriate classrooms.
  • Develops an arrangement for teachers to record volunteer needs and for volunteers to maximize involvement at school by reviewing the teacher's needs.
  • Assists with selected teachers on the development and implementation of training for teachers to utilize volunteers in the classroom.
  • Documents all research and training materials. Keeps log of the individuals contacted to volunteer and the placement of volunteers into appropriate classrooms.
  • Attends required workshops. Presents documentation workshops required by the grant.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.


Coursework equivalent to the academic requirements for a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.) and one year of experience working with children; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such has those listed above.
