Job Summary:


The Safety Specialist On-the-Job Training Program at Kennedy Construction Management Company ("KCM") is a two-year program where a trainee, called a Safety Specialist, is provided with the opportunities to gain the on-the-job training, education, and certifications required to be eligible for the role of Safety Professional in the construction industry.

Under the supervision of a Safety Professional, the Safety Specialist will learn how to conduct field site safety audits and inspections for commercial construction companies that provide various state Department of Transportation, commercial, and industrial facility construction services throughout the State of Wisconsin.

The primary objective of this program is to give the Safety Specialist the skills and education required to qualify for an entry level Safety Professional role in the construction industry.


Key Responsibilities:


The following responsibilities are to be performed under supervision and direction of a Safety Professional.

  • Conduct regular field site safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations including OSHA regulations.
  • Review and assess safety protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure they meet industry standards and comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations including OSHA regulations.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance to clients on implementing effective safety measures and controls.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, including topics such as hazard identification, personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency response procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents and provide recommendations for corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to address safety concerns and implement proactive safety measures.
  • Stay updated on new local, state, and federal laws and regulations, industry best practices, and emerging safety trends to continually improve safety practices within the company and for clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training programs.

Required Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Some background knowledge of the safety in the construction industry or similar field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate safety procedures and policies to clients and employees
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Detailoriented and proactive
  • Proficient in using Microsoft office software and tools, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
  • Desire to learn and progress in the field of construction safety

Pay:
$40, $43,000.00 per year
