Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sterile Processing Technology Instructor to join our team and contribute to the education and training of aspiring Sterile Processing Technicians.

As an integral part of our educational institution, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare professionals by imparting your knowledge and expertise in sterile processing techniques.


Responsibilities:


  • Curriculum Development: Develop and update course materials, lesson plans, and assessments to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices in sterile processing technology.
  • Classroom Instruction: Deliver engaging and informative lectures, practical demonstrations, and handson training sessions to students, covering topics such as sterilization methods, infection control, equipment handling, and quality assurance.
  • Laboratory Supervision: Oversee and guide students in laboratory settings, providing practical training in the use of sterilization equipment, proper handling of surgical instruments, and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Clinical Site Coordination: Collaborate with healthcare facilities to organize and supervise students during clinical rotations, ensuring they gain practical experience in realworld sterile processing settings.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Design and conduct assessments to measure students' understanding and proficiency in sterile processing techniques. Provide constructive feedback to support their learning and development.
  • Stay Updated: Stay abreast of advancements in sterile processing technology, infection control guidelines, and industry trends. Integrate relevant updates into the curriculum to keep students informed about the latest practices.
  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance to students, supporting their academic and professional growth. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaboration: Participate in the interview process for prospective Sterile Processing employees and students. Collaborate with other faculty members and administrative staff to enhance the overall educational experience, conduct department meetings and huddles, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching or training experience in sterile processing technology.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements in sterile processing education.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.

Credentials:

  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) credential.

Education:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Associate's Degree or equivalent from twoyear College or technical school preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience as a surgical technologist, Central Sterile technician, or other related technical role for sterile processing required; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Five (5) or more years of experience preferred.
