**Description**
**JOB SUMMARY:** Responsible for the management and operation of Camp Homelanis food service department. This includes supervision of the food service employees, food service and preparation. Live on site for the convenience of The Salvation Army and for the purpose of fulfilling the obligations and responsibilities of the Food Service Director position.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Valid drivers license
CPR training
At least 21 years old.
Professing Christian (this is a ministry position).
AA Degree in Culinary Arts or related experience.
At least two years professional food service management experience.
Experience in leading people and the ability to work well with camp staff, the public, and children that we serve.
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Excellent customer service skills and abilities.
Ability to supervise support staff, volunteers and rental groups
Preferred: At least two years /seasons of experience in the camp ministry
Preferred: Familiarity with the Revolution Hawaii ministry
Computer proficiency required in MS Word, Excel, Access, Databases, Email & Social Media
Able to forgo vacation time during the summer months.
Must be available to work Weekends
Live at camp
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**
Adheres to all Salvation Army, American Camp Association (ACA), Protecting the Mission and government guidelines and requirements.
Respect and uphold Camp policies and procedures. Respect and enforce Camp and neighborhood curfews: sound, light and fire.
Supervise food services personnel (including second cook, support staff and summer staff assigned to kitchen duties) and on-call workers.
Meets with Kitchen staff at the beginning of each weekend group to distribute work assignments and discuss special needs or concerns.
Trains kitchen staff in proper use of equipment and food preparation, giving precise directions as needed.
Ensures food service personnel follow all Camp policies and procedures.
Monitors personal appearance and safety of kitchen staff. Kitchen staff must wear closed-toe shoes and be properly dressed (e.g. t-shirts, slacks or shorts, aprons as needed).
Communicates problems in the food service department or with rental groups to the Team Leader/Associate Team Leader.
Provides top quality service to rental groups, guests, campers and Revolution Hawaii team members and staff.
Ensures adherence to State and local health department standards including proper sanitation procedures.
Supervises and participates in the maintenance, cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and kitchen equipment
Develops a schedule for regular care of kitchen and equipment.
Keeps a record of equipment problems and log service visits.
Prepares food budgets and analyzes supply needs; liaisons with vendors and Team Leader/Associate Team Leader to ensure proper delivery of meal service.
Consults with and meets vendors for food deliveries, equipment repairs, etc.
Recommends addition/cancellation of vendors for future operations
Recommends purchases of new equipment or repairs of existing equipment.
Works in consultation with DYS on Summer Food Service program (SFSP)
Meets regularly with Team Leader/Associate Team Leader to discuss menus for upcoming groups, events and RevHI program.
Develop signature meals for the camp menu.
Incorporates leftover foods for other recipes and weekday staff meals to adhere to budget guidelines.
Maintains inventory of kitchen supplies, equipment and food; prioritizes replenishment adhering to budget guidelines.
Maintains food service office.
Maintains exterior of dining hall facility: lanai, dock, etc. to be sure they meet necessary regulations.
Monitors camp kitchen facilities to prevent unauthorized entry and use. Reports suspicious activities or altercations to Team Leader/Associate Team Leader and/or police.
Facilitate meeting Camp objectives by substituting for other staff positions as necessary.
Live at camp.

**EQUIPMENT NEEDS:**
Will use food service equipment such as food service stoves, ovens, dish machine, etc. On occasion may use basic office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, calculators, multi-line phone system, etc.
**DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:**
Work will take place in the camp office and on/around the camp facility. Attendance at trainings, both in Hawaii and on the mainland may be required.
