Caregiver Jobs FAQ:

We hope this page answers your questions about being a Caregiver with A1Care. If you have others, don't hesitate to contact us.

How do I become a Caregiver for seniors?:

If we believe you'll be a good fit, you'll be invited to come into the office for a Caregiver Orientation.

By the end of this, you'll know if you're ready to begin your career as a Caregiver for us. If you say yes, you'll be hired on the spot and can begin working and earning immediately

Before we can approve you to _work_ with our seniors, we'll need to check your references and documents, as well as perform a criminal background check.

What kind of people become Caregivers?:

Our Caregiver team is incredibly diverse We have empty nesters, people in their 50s and 60s not ready to retire, and those who want to _work_ while their children are in school or want a job at night after their spouse/partner arrives _home_.

Can I _work_
for you if I don't have any experience?:
You will need 1-2 years of paid _work_ experience, medical or otherwise. Other than that, no other experience is required We'll train you and equip you with all the tools you need to become a top-quality A1 Caregiver

What is a typical day like for a professional Caregiver?:
Because you _work_ one-on-one with seniors in their homes, your daily schedule depends on your clients' needs. Some days you'll have breakfast with a client and then _work_ a puzzle together. Or, you might drive your client to a doctor's appointment or tackle light housekeeping.

Other tasks include helping seniors with dressing, bathing, grooming, or with devices such as hearing aids and assisting in or out of a wheelchair and bed or with toileting.

What you won't have is "assembly-line" duties sometimes associated with nursing care facilities. For example, toileting resident after resident. Your responsibility is to provide care and companionship to our seniors.

Many of our Caregivers tell us about the wonderful connections they've formed with our seniors - and how much meaning these connections add to their _work_.

Do you offer health insurance?:

Yes, we offer it to our employees who _work_ full-time (30 hours or more per week).

Will you be able to accommodate my odd schedule?:
Yes We have many Caregivers who _work_ at night, on weekends, and during the day. Our Care Coordinator will _work_ with you to help ensure you get the hours and flexibility you need.

Will I need to deal with medication?:
We only help with giving pre-dispensed medication to our seniors. We do not administer or prescribe it.

Will I need to perform any type of medical procedure?:
No As non-medical Caregivers, we don't provide any medical assistance or perform procedures. We do help seniors with mobility - e.g. helping them in and out of the shower, car, etc.
