Essential Job Functions:


  • Provide expertise in realtime development, and testing of software and/or computer hardware systems.
  • Evaluate system interfaces.
  • Under the direction of the FAA, performs systemwide analysis and functional allocations to define user requirements, exhibits an understanding of the requirements and satisfies the customer requirements.
  • Experience in FAA procedures and can identify solutions for the requirements in:
  • Functional performance
  • Facilities
  • Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA)
  • Standardization
  • Other engineering considerations regarding FAA missions and National Airspace System (NAS) systems.
  • May need to work with specialists from other disciplines such as hardware, software, logistic support, and testing to produce fully integrated and responsive components and systems.
  • Engineering experience in NAS related discipline such as command and control, communications, workstation, radar, maintenance, and computer automation fields.
  • Expertise in hardware/mechanical design and development, including expertise in the use of related development tools.
  • Design, develop, test and integrate system hardware components, interfaces and software/firmware packages to produce fully integrated systems.
  • Provide expertise in the technologies and practices for the testing of the NAS largescale real time systems composed of hardware, software and firmware.
  • Interpret and analyze complex information systems data to develop technical documentation, system diagrams, and presentation materials.
  • Coordinate and perform information systems hardware and software testing efforts, produce test and remediation plans and reports, and handle implementation of computer hardware and software for operational systems.
  • Works independently with limited supervision.

Other Job Functions:


  • Test and Evaluation policies and methods, including test plans, test procedures and test report developments, and test executions.
  • Installation, integration and/or implementation with complex communication systems that accommodate specific user requirements.
  • Hands on test bed establishment (including the physical, interface and installation requirements), test bed maintenance or test bed operations.
  • Requirements development, analysis and verification.
  • Data Network Management and Analysis support.
  • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
  • FAA Air Traffic domain knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Red Hat Linux knowledge is strongly desired.
  • Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment and HPE networking equipment is preferred.
  • Windows Operating System knowledge is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is preferred.
  • Experience in a variety of basic computer skills and the ability to learn tasks related FAA Tech Ops/ATC functions.
  • Basic Networking skills (how routers/switches/hubs work together).
  • Ability to understand the highlevel architecture of STARS and Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM).
  • Basic understanding of electronic component installation and wiring.
  • Work may require extensive travel (~ 50%+) to FAA airport locations in the US when scheduling dictates.
  • The Federal Vaccine Mandate affects this position and as a Federal Contractor, you will be required to provide proof of full COVID19 vaccination upon offer letter acceptance.

Education:


  • High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of related experience OR
  • Associate degree in a related field and 4 years of related experience OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 2 years of related experience.
