    Description
    We're looking for a talented and creative person to help iFixit deliver excellent repair experiences.

    As a product design engineer, you'll be working alongside other engineers to ideate and create new repair products and proceduresResponsibilities:
    Be a key engineering contributor in iFixit's innovation-driven NPI process.
    Dive into the exciting consumer electronics repair industry, where you'll design advanced tools and parts that empower DIY enthusiasts.
    Innovate by generating design options, solving challenges, and taking products from concept to launch.
    Oversee product lifecycles, driving improvements and resolving issues.
    Collaborate with quality and manufacturing teams for precision.
    Create impactful design documentation, including proposals, memos, presentations, and RFQs.


    Before applying you should possess:
    A technical degree related to consumer product design, or convincing related experience2-5 years experience in a related field.
    Computer Aided Engineering Skills, specifically 3D design (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and 2D design communication skillsExcellent spreadsheet skillsCandidates get bonus points for the following:Industrial design generation and evidence of customer-focused engineeringEngineering Design Communication skills: RFQ Packages, design Documents (proposals, memos, presentations)

    Knowledge of DFM and DFA methods and constraints. Ability to design for a variety of materials and processes.
    Experience with product lifecycles, BOM management, revisionsExperience in consumer electronics designHands-on experience with tools and repairSome key personality traits that we'd like to see:
