Job DescriptionFIELD SERVICE ENGINEER
Education and/or Experience:
A college degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent, plus experience in an industrial environment is desirable. Familiarity with common electrical test equipment such as digital storage oscilloscopes, DMMs, Hi-pots, and frequency generators is also necessary. Good customer relation skills are also required.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, good credit, pass random drug and alcohol tests, and have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a US passport.
Job Description:
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Installation, repair, and maintenance of induction power supplies, coils, furnaces, refractory linings, busswork, water systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, material handling equipment, and PLCs. Works with AC and DC circuitry ranging from 120 – 2,000 Volts.
Travel is mandatory up to 80% of the time on the job with occasional weekend work.
SECONDARY FUNCTION
As required, handle customer calls, look up customer drawings, and assist the Service Department support staff in any way necessary during the normal course of business. Work in the assembly or test departments is common during training.
Must be able to analyze facts and determine action using a wide range of procedures but within limits of standard practice. Must be Safety conscious at all times. Additionally, this position requires making sound judgments with respect to company liability issues.
Must understand that as a Service Engineer he or she is the most visible employee of Ajax Tocco that a customer sees and therefore good interpersonal skills are a very important part of this job. Must dress and act per company policies and use good business practices.
TRAINING
Field Service Engineers are required to attend Safety Training classes. All Field Service Engineers are required to have, or to obtain within their first year of employment, an OSHA 10-hour General Industry Card. In subsequent years, additional safety training will be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift 50 lbs., and to work in hot and/or cold, dirty environments, as well as have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
