Description
DUTIES:
Develop instruments from a theoretical phase through bench testing and final optical assemblies.
Align project timelines with New Product Introduction (NPI) roadmaps and interface with NPI teams to transfer Proof-of-Principle (PoP) systems to R&D.
Lead multiple projects to conceive, design, develop, prototype, and transfer highly innovative Proof-of-Principle (PoP) systems to R&D for incorporation into the New Product Introduction Process (NPI).
Identify new supplies needed to source critical components in support of research projects.
De-risk new features targeted for next generation instrumentation aligned with new product development projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
PhD or foreign degree equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field of study plus 2 years of experience in Research & Development, scientific research, product development, or related experience.
Employer will also accept a Master's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field of study plus 5 years of experience in Research & Development, scientific research, product development, or related experience as an equivalent alternative.
Must have experience or knowledge of:
Designing precision optical systems;
C++, MatLab, and LabVIEW;
Spectrometry, optics and sensors;
Intellectual property and patents; and
Chemical synthesis and analytics
Travel:
Willing to travel up to 20% domestic and international.
