The Role:
As a Transportation Supervisor/Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of hourly professionals who are focused on delivering "best in class" results across safety, customer experience, and financial targets.
Success will require cross functional coordination and alignment with other stakeholders (warehouse shipping/ receiving, sales, human resources, etc), ensuring decisions are not made in silos.
In addition, the Transportation Supervisor will educate and promote proper work behaviors and procedures to maintain a culture of safety in the workplace environment.
Requirements:
- 57 years of experience in transportation management or logistics
- More than 3 years of experience managing and coaching a team
- Experience with P&L accountability and performance management
- Broad knowledge of transportation systems
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
- Resultsdriven attitude with strong customer orientation
- Adaptability to new situations and peak operation periods, with a structured approach to problemsolving
- Advanced user knowledge of enterprise IT systems
- Familiar with PM based maintenance programs
- Strong communication, MS office and computer skills
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Administration or equivalent work experience
- Previous delivery experience is a plus
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 2 or 4year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or similar major preferred.
- Bilingual in English & Spanish a plus
Responsibilities:
- Lead the entire team to optimal performance while fostering a transparent, inclusive, and safe work environment. This includes tracking of key metrics, continuous improvement, coaching through performance issues, and elevating morale.
- Manage staffing decisions, retention, and employee performance
- Partner with DOT compliance and safety support groups to ensure company policies, procedures, andprograms are followed.
- Conduct routine observations/audits to ensure that drivers perform proper equipment checks and completeall work assignments in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
- Ensure proper maintenance of Driver Qualification files, driver log accuracy, and execution of thecompany's drug and alcohol testing protocol
- Deliver exceptional customer experience through execution of ontime delivery and prompt issue resolution/ follow through.
- Manages labor hours and consumable supplies within budget.
- Review scheduling and routing for location to ensure optimized delivery plan
- Establish and measure Customer Service Excellence by conducting market visits/audits and customer input
- Assist in developing the transportation strategy for the organization.
- Foster an atmosphere of continuous improvement and a LEAN operating culture.
- Lead incident/injury investigations; seek out and address the root cause of accidents, near misses, andpotential incidents (good catches).
- Recruit and select properly qualified drivers and oversee training to ensure resources are available to meetdaily schedule requirements.
- Counsel, coach and discipline employees as necessary regarding performancerelated issues.
- Develop and implement Productivity Improvement Projects to improve upon Key Productivity Indicators
- Manage Transportationrelated SAP processes
- Lead project implementation initiatives for new technology including onsite training and support
