Secondary Building Instructional and District Innovation Coach

Full Time Teacher Contract


SUMMARY:


The Instructional and Innovation Coach will support a combination of both instructional building coaching and the integration of educational technology and innovative district level tools and initiatives.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


  • This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited teacher education program
  • Must hold valid State of Michigan teaching certificate
  • Demonstrated a minimum 5+ years of exemplary classroom experience
  • Training in a recognized Coaching framework
  • Training and practical experience in the use of researchbased practices, data analysis to drive instruction and knowledge of teaching literacy, math, social studies and science.
  • Understanding of and demonstrated competence in differentiating instruction within the classroom, including demonstrated success in classroom management and instructional planning for effective instruction along with the ability to model lessons that demonstrate best practices
  • Expertise in researchbased instructional practices that support underserved students
  • Background in Mathematics and intervention

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Collaborates with districtwide staff to design and prepare successful educational technology integration.
  • Promotes digital citizenship among students and staff.
  • Develops Educational Technology professional learning resources, user guides, newsletters and opportunities for district staff.
  • Works with the STEAM department on program growth and alignment.
  • Researches and stays up to date with instructional technology and makes recommendations of new and upcoming programs to be implemented.
  • Organizes technology mentorship opportunities with the community such as parent/guardian resources and training for technology use, Google Classroom, Video Conferencing, GSuite and PowerSchool, etc.
  • Creates coaching opportunities with instructional staff that align with the Student-Centered Coaching framework.
  • Collaborates with buildingwide staff to facilitate professional learning around curricular resources, design and prepare successful instructional lesson plans, set goals for increased student achievement, and analyze data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Collaborates with administrators, teachers, specialists and students to design, instruct and assess learning experiences that integrate and reinforce learning across the curriculum.
  • Monitors students who are not meeting gradelevel benchmarks and works collaboratively with buildinglevel staff to establish researchbased interventions and supports.
  • Ensures that assessment data on student achievement is transparent and available to all to ensure accurate programming options.
  • Ensure that students are being supported at levels appropriate to maximizing student learning potential. High challenge combined with high support.
  • Coordinate building resources alongside building administrators to ensure all students have equal access to and participation in quality, differentiated curriculum to meet the students' needs.
  • Strengthen the core academic programs in the building through the support of researchbased practices that have known results with normally underserved populations.
  • Serve as an advocate with both administration and staff to guarantee disadvantaged children meet high academic standards in all core academic areas.
  • Clarify individual and group needs of students not meeting standards through effective communication of data to drive quality instruction.
  • Acts as a role model for staff using innovative classroom instructional practices.
  • Develops professional learning resources, user guides, newsletters, and opportunities for staff.
  • Researches and stays up to date with instructional best practices and makes recommendations of new and upcoming programs to be considered for implementation.
  • Organizes and facilitates building and districtwide professional development in collaboration with building leaders, school improvement teams, and professional learning communities.
  • Promotes a personalized and equitable approach to education, including strategies such as PBL and UDL opportunities, portfolio development, student voice, and student choice.
  • Integrates programs and practices that engage parents as partners/teachers in their child's learning
