Specific Duties:


  • Encourage residents' personal interests and growth to enhance their physical and emotional wellbeing.
  • Handle mail delivery, personal item distribution, and associated recordkeeping in compliance with regulatory policies.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records for all activities and promptly report any noteworthy observations to the Activity Director.
  • Develop and manage a team of volunteers, keeping track of their hours and contributions.
  • Assist the Activity Director in planning, organizing, and presenting a variety of activities.
  • Promote and facilitate inroom activities, such as card games, sewing, and checkers.
  • Keep the activity schedules up to date.

Activity Assistant Responsibilities:


  • Plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly events to foster socialization and relaxation.
  • Create activities accommodating individuals with special needs.
  • Handle event planning logistics, including communication, advertising, budget management, volunteer coordination, and transportation.
  • Evaluate participant engagement and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain records related to event planning resources, participant interests, and incidents.
  • Report medical concerns promptly.
  • Ensure wellprepared events with trained staff, timely execution, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Provide participants with event instructions.
  • Uphold safety procedures consistently.

Qualifications:


  • Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year in a nursing facility, longterm care setting, or recreational arts/crafts program.
  • Job Knowledge: Familiarity with resident needs, games, crafts, and activities; sensitivity to residents' emotions and concerns.

Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to perform physical tasks like reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds, and more.
