PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Facilitate curriculum and assessment development and improvements for Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses.

Collaborate with teachers, district and campus leadership, counselors, staff, and CTE Advisory Council regarding curriculum development, instructional materials, assessments, Industry-Based Certifications (IBC), CCMR, and CTE Programs of Study.

Facilitate and coordinate professional learning communities (PLC's) to improve CTE teaching, learning, and IBC test outcomes.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Education/Certification:


  • Master's Degree
  • Texas Counseling Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:


  • Knowledge of CTE curriculum, facilities, instructor certification, and funding requirements, as well as, local, state and federal CTE regulations.
  • Extensive understanding of Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs), knowledge of IBC vendors, proficiency in handling IBC software, and demonstrated expertise in scheduling IBC tests.
  • Ability to analyze Industry-Based Certification (IBC) data and formulate actionable improvement plans.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CTE Programs of Study, along with demonstrated proficiency in high school master scheduling to ensure that CTE courses are arranged for program of study completion.
  • Ability to use data to improve teaching and learning, and evaluate CTE instructional programs and practices.
  • Develop and provide effective instructional professional development sessions for CTE teachers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR).
  • Provide leadership and coaching to teachers and CCMR Coordinators in curriculum and instruction techniques to prepare students to be college and career ready.
  • Establish and maintain a variety of filing, record keeping, and tracking systems designed specifically for managing Industry-Based Certification (IBC) data and program of study completion.

Experience:


  • Three years of successful experience as a high school counselor, with a focus on supporting Career and Technical Education (CTE) course scheduling, Industry-Based Certification testing, and College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) initiatives.
  • Five years of successful classroom teaching.
  • Experience with delivering district, regional and/or state professional development.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:


Instructional Management

  • Assist the Director to improve each program, prepare reports, recommend budgets, and assist in maintaining federal inventories.
  • Assist with CCMR, programs of study, enhancing industrybased certifications, and strategically and equitably managing our resources to meet identified student needs and align resource allocation with district goals.
  • Collaborate with high school testing coordinators to develop an Industry-Based Certification (IBC) testing calendar and training sessions for IBC teachers.
  • Track the utilization of the district's iCEV curriculum by teachers and facilitate the creation and implementation of CTE teacher curriculum playlists.
  • Provide leadership to ensure data quality and integrity in the aspects of the CTE program, to include Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS), Eduthings, and other student data related to program needs.
  • Supervise and provide professional development opportunities for teachers in the CTE program to ensure consistency between current industry/business needs and student instruction.
  • Collaborate with counselors and oversee student enrollment in Programs of Study at high schools.
  • Coordinate and assist with the selection of instructional resources, software, and hardware.
  • Provide training and support for all industrybased certification platforms utilized in CTE courses.
  • Coordinate, support and provide guidance with curriculum planning for CTE classes, ensuring alignment with TEKS and the integration of appropriate IBC test objectives.
  • Oversee that curriculum is uploaded and accessible from various platforms.
  • Collaborate with postsecondary education institutions for dualcredit or technical dualcredit initiatives.
  • Research and propose new courses to enhance CTE programs of study.
  • Research current and projected workforce data to ensure BISD course offerings are aligned with high demand, highskill, highwage careers to the extent possible.
  • Collaborate with campus administration, counselors and teachers to implement district initiatives related to career and technical education.
  • Monitor instructional processes systematically and continuously to verify that program activities are keyed to producing desired program outcomes.
