Expert in wastewater technology

Clean water is essential to us.

Who takes care of cleaning this important resource? This is primarily the job of wastewater technology experts at treatment plants.

During your training as a wastewater technology expert, you will work in a team to ensure that wastewater is cleaned before it is released back into the environment.

You will take samples, analyze, repair and maintain machines and equipment, monitor and document processes. As part of the wastewater treatment process, you will learn about the responsible tasks in an environmental technology profession. After completing your training, you will know how to handle water.

Clean water is also a matter of course for you.

August 1, 2024

Duration of training: 3 years


Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Good grades in natural science subjects
  • Interest in technical, biological and chemical relationships
  • Willingness to learn and team spirit
  • Good knowledge of German

Training locations:

  • Your training as a wastewater technology expert will take place in training blocks.
  • Your practical training will take place at a wastewater treatment plant operated by BRW.
  • The theoretical training in the laboratory, electrical engineering, and measurement and control technology will take place at the Education Center for Waste and Water Management (BEW) in Essen. You will live in a dormitory with other trainees.
  • The vocational school lessons will be held in block form in Gelsenkirchen.
