Job Description:
AKANE Institute an Allergy, Asthma & Sleep Medicine / Behavioral Medicine practice with offices in San Diego, Santee and La Jolla.
Responsibilities and Duties
Manage and triage phone calls
Scheduling of new and existing patients
Meet and greet clients and visitors
Responsible for collection & scanning of proper ID, insurance cards, co-pays
Input of demographics into EMR at time of check in
Create and modify documents using Microsoft Word & Excel
Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing
Check eligibility & benefits for upcoming appointments
Ensure all faxes are distributed & new referrals are called by the end of day
Send Referral Letters by fax to our referring doctors
Travel to the other office may be required periodically
Performs other duties as assigned
Follows all office policies and procedures either written or verbal
Understands and supports the office's HIPAA privacy practices and maintains confidentiality
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a medical office as Front desk/ Receptionist
- EMR experience necessary
- Previous experience with obtaining insurance eligibility and authorizations
- Knowledge of insurance carriers & plans, IPA'S, PPO & HMO medical groups a must
- Bilingual a plus but not necessary
- MA certification/course certification desired but not required
