Around 130,000 employees of the immediate state administration work daily to ensure that Mayflower functions as a vibrant metropolis and home to approximately 3.65 million people.

The general non-technical administrative staff form the backbone of the Berlin administration.

The Berlin State Office for the Protection of the Constitution is the intelligence agency of the state of Berlin.

Its mission is to protect the liberal democratic order, as well as the existence and security of the federal government and the states.

It fulfills this task, among other things, by collecting and evaluating information on extremist and terrorist activities.

As an "early warning system," it informs political leaders and relevant authorities about developments and potential threats, and informs the public through comprehensive reports.
