The Student Services Supervisor (SSS) is a position that fulfills the crucial role of leading the Student Services Advisors and providing support to ensure high student retention and completion of the program.

Equally important, the SSS represents the team by collaborating effectively with other departments, including but not limited to Admissions, Registrar, Student Accounts, Financial Aid, and Academics.

Functions include addressing mid-level student issues, supporting the execution the strategic goals and objectives of Student Services, and working closely with Senior Advisors and developing them to manage the advising team.

The SSS's priority is to ensure that advisors provide the utmost support to current students as they provide guidance to students throughout their academic journey.

Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the SSS proactively identifies the strengths and areas of opportunities within the team, addresses issues based on advisors' activities, reviews performance measurements, ensures student satisfaction, and provides resources to support students and advisors.

In addition, the SSS leads the team to support the initiatives directed by the Director of Student Services.

The SSS proactively and enthusiastically contributes to the desired university culture of inclusion, supportiveness, and championing success, and the position provides support to the Student Services Department with projects, student support, and advising matters as assigned.


Requirements:


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daytoday operations and their initiatives to assist the advisors
  • Ensure appropriate caseload of new students are assigned to designated advisors every session
  • Serve as the supervisory bridge between advisors and the Director of Student Services (DSS)
  • Provide coaching and development to Senior Student Services Advisors (SSSA) to effectively support their teams while staying aligned with the University's mission
  • Collaborate with the other departments (i.e., academics, academic support specialists, registrar, coaches, advisors, etc.) in order to provide proper guidance and directions to advisors and ensure optimal support to students
  • Ensure timely and accurate communications of support from advisors to students to maintain student satisfaction
  • Set expectations for lead advisors to provide training and support to new advisors
  • Support advisors and students to resolve student complaints and concerns and distribute to appropriate personnel
  • Ensure appropriate caseload of new students are assigned to designated advisors every session
  • Review and evaluate areas of opportunities for Student Services, including its policies and procedures, and provide suggestions to the DSS to maintain seamless processes for the team
  • Provide supervisory support for employeerelated concerns including
:


  • Time cards
  • Onboarding and training
  • Performance evaluations
  • Contributes to the overall success of the department by performing all other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Excellent oral, written, digital, and interpersonal communication skills suitable for a professional work environment
  • Understanding of the benefits of higher education and methods of support and intervention that are effective in meeting the needs of college students, particularly international students and studentathletes
  • Commitment to supporting student success in higher education
  • Capacity to effectively collaborate within and across departments to achieve goals and support the university mission
  • Ability to independently make decisions, efficiently manage time, multitask, and prioritize effectively across multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage people, work well with others, and foster a strong team dynamic
  • Flexibility and a willingness to volunteer for assignments
  • Goaldriven and resultsoriented
  • Proficiency in MS programs such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Proficiency in G-Suite programs such as Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms
  • Ability to carry/lift loads between 2550 lbs (occasionally)
  • Some travel between campuses may be required

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Administration, Education, Counseling, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • At least 23 years experience in postsecondary education advising role, including 1 year in a leadership capacity required
  • Previous experience in the use of software platforms for online classes (i.e. Moodle, Ecollege, Blackboard, etc.) preferred
