Location:Flexible could operate out of 5715 W Belmont or 4822 N Broadway (mostly online at the moment)

Shift:Make your own hours as long as it consistent (some time open for on-call support)

Rate:$18.13 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities:

Instruction

  • Provides direct instruction to English language learners.
  • Utilizes existing curriculum and, in collaboration with the team, develops and refines curriculum.
  • Subjects may include ESL, Citizenship, Computer Skills, Vocational Training, Job Readiness, Adult Basic Education, High School Equivalency Exam Preparation, and Family Literacy.
  • Cultivates a welcoming, engaging, and supportive learning environment, online or inperson depending on program needs.
  • Provides instruction online or inperson as dictated by the needs of the program and participants.
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure instructional continuity and adequate student instructional support is provided.

Program Administrative Support

  • Tracks attendance at each session and may record individual and group progress as dictated by contract compliance and professional standards.
  • As schedules allow, administer pre/posttests to students.
  • Completes intake interviews with new students.
  • Assists with program administrative duties during any noninstruction time as needed.
  • Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.
  • Minimum two years of teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Relevant lived experience in refugee resettlement or forced migration considered.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (K/S/A):


  • Strong preference for multilingual skills, demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively in different languages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare reports, and correspondence, and effectively address diverse audiences.
  • Must be sufficiently flexible to pick up a class in progress, adjusting to diverse populations and skill levels.
  • Strong networking abilities, with experience building and sustaining relationships with diverse work teams, stakeholders, and communitybased organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally and diplomatically.
  • High level of collaboration and emotional intelligence, fostering effective communication and engagement with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently, remain selfmotivated, and adapt to various situations with mínimal direct supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows operating systems, and other software routinely used by the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and navigate situations where only limited standardization exists. Capable of interpreting various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Arrangement:
This role is eligible for a "hybrid" or "remote" work arrangement.

If hybrid, it is expected this person would be able to meet for "in person" meetings when needed or at the request of others.

In-person meetings may be required regularly (weekly, monthly, etc.). There may also be the availability to work from home when appropriate.
