NGA Marketing MessageThe National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), the World Leader in Geospatial Intelligence.
Imagine being able to identify anything on, above, or beneath the Earth's surface and display that information visually to provide a meaningful foundation for decision-making to ensure the safety of the world.
That's the job of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
We analyze imagery and data from many sources and incorporate it into visual displays of essential information for use in national defense, homeland security, and safety of navigation.
Central to the success of our mission are the extraordinary talents and skills of our teams of analysts and other professionals.
We need the best minds to provide the information edge, continuing NGA's role as the premier provider of Geospatial Intelligence worldwide.
Know the World, Show the Way...from Seabed to SpaceAssignment DescriptionASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION:
Photogrammetric Imagery Scientists extract monoscopic, stereoscopic, and multiscopic mensuration of objects and geographic features utilizing all imaging systems (i.e., satellite, airborne, ground).
They create mensuration reports and mensuration-derived computer-aided design products. They collaborate with analysts to understand intelligence issues and provide scientific results to conduct intelligence production. They develop special collection strategies, assess and validate tools and products, and create customized methodologies and products to address a variety of intelligence problems.
They provide technical guidance to enhance photogrammetric imaging capability, applicability, and collection.Promotion OpportunityPROMOTION OPPORTUNITY:
Promotion opportunities allow applicants at all band levels to be considered. Qualifications for NGA positions do not include specific time-in-band requirements.
NGA will emphasize quality of experience, rather than duration, and assess how the quality of the experience demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance in the NGA occupational structure.

They provide technical guidance to enhance photogrammetric capability and applicability.A photogrammetric imagery scientist extracts GEOINT from all types of imagery (satellite, airborne, ground, etc.) by performing dimensional analysis of objects and geographic features in images using specialized monoscopic, stereoscopic, and multi-image photogrammetric processes.
They also perform volumetric analysis, micro-feature terrain analysis, SATCOM point to point line-of-sight analysis, forensic imagery/video analysis, solar/time analysis, velocity analysis, change detection, and locational analysis.
They create mensuration reports and adapt current or develop new photogrammetric tools to meet customer needs. They prepare tailored products and information, explain technical concepts to non-specialists in an understandable manner, and serve as an expert imagery science representative to a variety of working groups and forums.
They also participate in the development of automation, Computer Vision/Machine Learning (CV/ML) and data science solutions impacting photogrammetrically-based processes as appropriate.
They also evaluate and validate photogrammetric tools and processes. They create customized methodologies and products to address wide ranging intelligence problems relevant to customer needs. They also provide tradecraft guidance to other photogrammetric imagery scientists and instruction to customers in other disciplines.Duties:
- related specifications. Develop solutions to improve quality of photogrammetric results (e.g., mono intersection, triangulation, multi-ray, stereo, multi-image sequence point extraction, source selection) to answer key intelligence questions pertinent to national security.
Physical Requirement:
- Near visual acuity of 20/20 or better with or without corrective lenses.
