Position Summary

As a journeyman electrician at Ashford Communities, your main responsibility will be to ensure the safety and functionality of all electrical systems within our properties, working very closely to our Master Electrician. This includes performing routine maintenance checks, troubleshooting any issues that may arise, and completing necessary repairs or installations promptly. You will be asked to complete a wide variety of tasks. You should be able to perform inspections and conduct assessments of electrical systems. You should also be able to read blueprints and interpret them to determine the best way to resolve the problems in an electrical system. To excel in this role, we require candidates to have at least 3-5 years of experience as a journeyman electrician with knowledge of both residential and commercial electrical systems. A valid state license is also required.

In addition to technical skills, we are looking for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to communicate effectively with other team members and residents. Our ideal candidate takes pride in their work and has excellent problem-solving abilities.

Journeyman Electrician Responsibilities:

• Bring standard equipment and parts with you.
• Commuting between the locations at which you will work.
• Choosing the most apt course of action due to project constraints.
• Selecting, installing, and preserving the functionality of wires, plugs, panelboards, switchgear, switchboards, and similar.
• Monitoring inventory to ensure an adequate stock.
• Logging time and resources spent on each task to calculate costs.
• Ensuring adherence to all relevant safety regulations.
• Providing professional, friendly, and prompt services.
• Drive yourself to our job sites and assess their electrical systems
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints
• Use a variety of tools and techniques to repair and maintain electrical systems
• Use your knowledge to determine the best way to install new electrical systems

Requirements

• Experience Requirement: Several years of experience working as an electrician, demonstrating mastery of the trade and NEC standards.
• Advanced Electrical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, codes, and regulations, including expertise in applying the NEC.
• NEC Mastery: Proficiency in interpreting and applying the National Electrical Code to ensure compliance in all electrical installations and repairs.
• Conduit Installation: Ability to plan and execute conduit installations, including sizing, routing, and securing, in adherence to NEC standards.
• Pipe Bending: Mastery in bending conduit pipes accurately and efficiently, with expertise in complex bends and offsets while maintaining NEC compliance.
• Wire Installation Methods: Expertise in various wiring methods and techniques, including advanced cable pulling, termination, and routing, following NEC regulations.
• Leadership Skills: Ability to lead a team of apprentice electricians, ensuring their work aligns with NEC requirements in conduit installation, pipe bending, and wire methods.
