    General Summary


    The Project Accountant is responsible for internal financial processes of film and other productions that include monitoring costs and budgets, conducting audits, identifying past trends, and predicting future needs.

    This position is also responsible for project and production budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, scheduling, general accounting, financial reporting, and ad-hoc analysis.

    Job Functions


    Prepare project to date actual, cost to complete projections, corporate interface reports, budgets and weekly cost reports for projects from pre-production to post; including costs vs.

    expectations, departmental and individual artist productivity and cost effectiveness.
    Coordinate budget analysis by department to ensure that a project's creative ambition does not exceed estimates.
    Prepare detailed monthly cash flows with variance reports for prior month projections.
    Equate show cost reports to weekly project progress reports per actual costs, commitments, and schedule changes.

    Audit and monitor the production schedule and production tracking systems, while integrating them into the financial management of the project.

    Assist Production Management/Executives to develop planning and reporting strategies designed to improve project flows and efficiencies.
    Track purchase orders and acquire invoice approvals for payment.
    Prepare and analyze cost reports and costing audits.
    Monitor cost, spending and budgets trends and provide strategic planning/resource allocation recommendations.
    Oversee Projects; review timecards and track labor by employee/task.

    Qualifications

    4 year Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    7+ years of directly related accounting experience including experience project budgets and cost accounting.
    Experience with budget planning, strategic planning and financial data analysis.
    Strong understanding of accounting, methodologies and procedures.
    Familiarity with US GAAP and preparation of financial statements.
    Knowledgeable and technical in payroll, cost reporting, cash flows and budgeting.
    Excellent analytical and computer skills (extensive experience in Microsoft Excel) with automated data management, preferred.
    Ability to work as part of a team and effectively partner with others across the organization.
    Ability to multitask, prioritize and work accurately/independently while meeting deadlines.
    Demonstrated organizational skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Work environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee works under typical office conditions and is exposed to variable indoor temperatures.

    The noise level is usually quiet or moderate.
