Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday, 10pm - 8am


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate driver activities and shuttle assignments to resolve service issues and minimize overtime, downtime, and hours of service violations. Complete attendance trackers and verify that drivers are using Omnitracs properly.
  • Ensure that customer's needs are being met in a prompt and professional manner and escalate issues (late dispatch, breakdown, other service failures) to managers and sales force. Reassign routes as needed to solve service issues, and ensure that drivers are logging in and utilizing Proof of Delivery scanner.
  • Coordinate trailer, tractor, and backhaul assignments to support efficient logistics operations.
  • Visually inspect each driver's appearance to verify that drivers are in proper uniform and have required PPE.
  • Notify the manager / supervisor in charge and the safety specialist in the event of a vehicle accident or driver injury.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work will take place both at a desk in an office environment and in normal warehouse environments including cooler and freezer areas where temperatures may be as low as 5 degrees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Related Experience/Requirements:

  • Minimum one year of transportation or logistics experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Effective communication both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent telephone and customer service ability.
  • Math, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills with a good knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking abilities to solve problems of limited scope.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to support others in the department and division.
Education

  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior dispatcher experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT Hours of Service Regulations and driver logs.
  • Knowledge of our geographic delivery area.
