We are seeking a Network Engineer to support KCIT's Datacenter, Network Infrastructure, and Technology Platforms.The responsibilities of this position include maintaining and administering large, complex technology systems Countywide and/or large systems of comparable impact in departments or divisions.
This position is responsible for one or more systems, such as Cisco switches, Adva Optical devices, Physical Infrastructure Standards, and Physical Access security.

Job Duties
Monitor systems, applications, and networks to ensure continuous operations of enterprise systems. Utilize tools to verify services, detect, report, escalate, and correlate events, documenting anomalies per procedures. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for IT incidents, service requests, and computer operations management. Evaluate, prioritize, correlate alerts, document, and triage IT incidents promptly to minimize end-user impact.
Plan, implement, and maintain upgrades/updates/fixes for core operating systems and components following industry best practices without impacting system/network availability and reliability.
Act as a liaison between vendors, technical support, and departments to resolve complex system or network issues.Troubleshoot network devices, establish connectivity, and perform installations, removals, and positioning of computer equipment and cabling in the Data Center.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills5+ years in IT role, maintaining enterprise network systems according to best practices. 3+ years implementing enterprise networks with Cisco routers/switches and security tools. 1+ year in reading technical documents and using engineering/monitoring tools. Ability to build customer relationships, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple priorities effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical articulation and documentation.

Lift and carry up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations. Valid WA State driver's license.
Successful clearance of Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check is required for the selected candidate.

The work associated with this position will be performed through a combination of onsite work and telecommuting. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities.

This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime-eligible.
Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek, normally 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
