Job Overview:
Duties:
Assessment and Monitoring:
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of patients' physical and psychological status related to substance abuse.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, withdrawal symptoms, and overall health status.
- Assess and manage patients' pain, discomfort, and medication side effects.
Treatment Planning:
- Collaborate with the treatment team to develop individualized care plans based on patients' needs, goals, and treatment progress.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for therapeutic effectiveness and potential side effects.
- Provide patient education on substance abuse, recovery, medications, and selfcare strategies.
Therapeutic Interventions:
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and educational workshops on topics related to substance abuse recovery.
- Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Assist in the management of detoxification and withdrawal protocols.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, therapists, counselors, and other team members regarding patients' progress, concerns, and treatment plans.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care, treatment strategies, and discharge planning.
- Collaborate with community resources and referral agencies to coordinate aftercare services and support for patients postdischarge.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses in electronic health records (EHR).
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies related to patient care and nursing practice.
Requirements:
- Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric or substance abuse settings.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required.
- Knowledge of substance abuse disorders, withdrawal symptoms, and evidencebased treatment approaches.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Compassionate, nonjudgmental approach to patient care and advocacy.
- Certification in Addictions Nursing (CARN) or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHN).
- Experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and healthcare technology.
Pay:
$48.07 per hour
