    Description
    The Talent Acquisition department hires qualified candidates to fill positions which contribute to the overall strategic success of Howard University. Hiring staff "for fit" makes significant contributions to Howard University's overall mission.

    BASIC FUNCTION:

    Establish a rigorous, extramurally funded research program and teach courses in the graduate and professional (PharmD) programs in the College of Pharmacy. The candidate will develop their research program by collaborating with faculty in the department and the university. Representative areas of expertise include but are not limited to the formulation and/or manufacturing of peptides, proteins, cell-based and/or nucleic acid-based therapeutics, biosimilar products, vaccines, and/or immunotherapeutics. Additionally, the candidate mayserve on committees assigned by the chair when needed. The successful candidate will be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others in a team environment.

    SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:

    Reports to the Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences

    NATURE AND SCOPE:

    Initially, establish a presence in the area of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology by: Teaching courses to Doctor of Pharmacy students as well as to PhD students; and initiating a research program in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology by collaborating with department faculty as well as faculty in the University.

    Then, develop a rigorous, extramurally funded research program.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
    • Teach courses in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology by breaking down complex ideas into basic components that are understandable to students.
    • Establish a research program.
    • Obtain grant funding to sustain the research program.
    CORE COMPETENCIES:
    • Ability to teach Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.
    • Research competency to initiate a new program
    • Grantsmanship
    • Innovation and skill to develop patentable inventions would be a plus
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    PhD degree with specialization in Biotechnology, with emphasis on the development of pharmaceuticals. Other, equivalent PhD degrees will also be considered. Some teaching experience.
